Choosing to purchase a new or second home should be one of the most exciting and satifying experiences of your life. You will be happiest with the home you purchase if you carefully define what you expect the home to do for you share those ideas with your Realtor before begin looking.
A very nice couple instructed me to write an offer on a home in an area where it rains nearly every day. We were getting ready to sign the offer when I said, "I don't think you will be happy with this house. Before our appointment today I reviewed the notes I had made the first day we met. You told me you wanted to relocate to an area where the weather is stable because of your health issues. This home is beautiful but is does not satisfy most important need.
What is the purpose for the purchase?
Will this be a personal residence, second home, second home with income potential or a rental property?
Do you prefer a Condominium, Townhouse or Single Family Residence?
Are you looking for beachside, direct ocean, ocean acess, riverfront or canal front?
Do you prefer Merritt Island, Cocoa or Cocoa Village.
Is waterfront a must, will waterview do just as well or do you prefer to be off the water.
Are there areas that you prefer to avoid?
Are there special considerations required for hobbies, guests, potential additions to the family, physical limitations or disabilities?
The answers to these questions will help you not only determine the type of house that will be the best for you, but it will also help you avoid purchasing a home that is just not the RIGHT HOME FOR YOU.
